Very Immature Supervisory Staff/Focus on Cliques - Scheduling Coordinator One Call Employee Review

Pros

It was a job where I could earn money.

Cons

Promotions are based on your social status within the cliques; employees who are more adept at their jobs and with business protocol in general are left behind if they don't "hang out" with the right people. They will actually promote ill-qualified individuals based on socializing with them outside of work, and then ask the "peons" that know what they're doing (that they don't hang out with outside of work) to help train the individuals they have just promoted. Very strange environment. The harder you work, they will acknowledge it--by telling you you are doing great and giving you more to handle and manage (but not reflecting it in your pay or possible promotions.) There is also a strange, phony air of trying to be constantly upbeat that the upper management tries to radiate. It comes across as more of an attempt at brainwashing the staff to "be happy" than actually being honestly positive. Again, it was all pretty strange. To top it off, there are multiple "mean girls" that have solely been promoted due to their over-familiarity with upper management, not for their actual skill sets. This causes an enormous loss in productivity, as well as a significant increase in departmental errors, staff confusion, interoffice turmoil and low morale. The CEO seems completely checked out. I quietly resigned and haven't looked back.

Pros

Throughout the interview process, the leaders at One Call kept talking about their culture and the people that make it so great to work there. I was skeptical since most companies talk a big game but One Call actually delivered! Their culture is unmatched and everyone genuinely cares about one another and the consumer (the patients we serve).

Cons

Sometimes the company operates as the world's oldest start-up company.

Pros

Great co-workers! Most supervisors are open and approachable. Interesting work. If they try, employees can learn a lot about the workers comp industry which can take them many places in their future.

Cons

Some people in management (i.e. supervisors & managers) don't have the personality or ability to be managment. In order to supervise, a person needs to have an open & friendly personality to be able to relate to the staff. Way too much favoritism.
