Pros

The company is slow moving and behind the curve in terms of top talent and technology so it isn't as competitive as other companies

Cons

Abuse and bullying by certain managers. They prey on certain people that they just "dont like", micro manage the exact timing of when you arrive at work and literally bar certain people from taking sick days (but not others = discrimination) ! I overheard a manager tell an employee that she didn't like (for no reason) that this employee could not call in sick and had to "suck it up". There is gross discrimination that goes on here, where certain people are "allowed" flexibility at work if they have kids but if you don't have kids and are younger they have different expectations from you. If you aren't liked you might be subject to gossip and people making things up about you/blaming you for things you didn't do. It's all pretty standard over at NG San Jose. Overall, management is completely incompetent and they are lucky that they haven't had any lawsuits on their hands given the gross display of bias, harassment, bullying, and otherwise irrational pursuits of certain employees for absolutely no logical reason while employees watch in shock and horror. Meanwhile, HR doesn't care and their attitude is that managers can make up their own rules and do whatever they want. Meanwhile in Silicon Valley all the Facebook and Googlers have tons of flexibility, benefits, way more pay...this company is the worst of the worst of the worst.

Pros

Great work life balance Amazing work culture - some of my favorite peers have been Northrop Employees Benefits are really nice Work can be really exciting at times, giving me the opportunity to take ownership over complicated projects and tasking

Cons

Red tape makes speed tough at times. There can be really slow periods for far too long The promotion system is truly terrible. There are no incentives to stay or go above and beyond. They are unreasonably firm on time-in-seat, way too slow to act (they take months), and low ball you on promotional offers. So you could be a high performer for years, but the new-hire with no experience with the company will likely make thousands more than you do. It's backwards, and it's really the only reason I left.
