I've been reading the reviews out of curiosity and surprised to see the HR (or whoever) is responding to the reviews. I have noticed the claims from HR responses and a few things came to my mind which I think is worth mentioning here for the people who want to read it.
Highlights of HR responses from other posts here.
1) "We’ve been developing our new internal Career Portal which will provide current employees resources to further develop and build their careers at Micro Focus. "
Are you seriously thinking of building one now? Almost every company out there already has one.
I had a look at the intranet and I found hardly any jobs listed. And those advertised positions have a very high level of expectation with no salary mentioned. And furthermore, I have heard from the leaders that internal job movements are not allowed. If so, what's the point of having a career portal? Read them like a storybook !!
2) "Regarding our pay and benefits: we know that they’re an important component of our total rewards, so to ensure we’re competitive, we use regional external benchmarks to align our compensation and benefits packages."
Most of the people (whom I know and I am close with) in the company have received 0% hike this year and are still surviving on the salary (or slightly increased 2-3% in the last 4-5 years or more) they have offered at the time of joining. If you are working in the public sector, you would at least get 1% hike every year.
In all these years, I have never seen or heard about communication from HR or Manager saying "We are increasing the salary based on the market rates or regional benchmarks".
Take the count of employees who have walked out of the door in the last 2 years because of the salary hike and pathetic career options offered. That's on top of the employees you have fired.
Perhaps the so-called "Regional Benchmark" scale in Micro Focus never changes.
What about the bonus changes you made this year? If you look at the bonus structure properly and work out based on the factors and use probability, you will realize that employees will hardly get anything. Lucky if they get something.
3) "You have mentioned that you are taking the employee survey seriously and making changes based on that"
For years, I have filled in the survey and I have never seen the results published anywhere. You guys have no guts to publish it due to the fact that it will give a clear idea to the employees and the outside world about "how unhappy your workforce is". So you cleverly have hidden it under the carpet and not talking about it in any of the meetings. I dare you to publish that on our intranet.
I have heard many senior managers, including Mr. CEO telling that his and the senior managers' commitment is towards the shareholders, making money for them is their priority and they do everything to make them happy.
I have never come across something which makes me feel that " The company is doing something for the employees or to show that MF cares for employees".
I would like to know how is it working out for Mr. CEO and the senior managers' who desperately want to make money for shareholders? Looking at the share price recently paints the real picture. eh!
In the recent past, I have seen many people were made redundant which includes my team members and people whom I know for years from other teams. I wonder why I have never seen a manager made redundant, even though those managers are managing a team of 3-4 people.
Guess it is because they are in the "Fat Cat Club"!
For those who want to join the company, you should know that,
* The culture of the company is going down the drain along with employee morale. Oh No... Actually there is no culture and morale. It's gone.
* Share price - Hmmm. No words to explain.
* Work Pressure - Oh Yeah. A lot.
* It's always better "just listen to your manager and do your job". Never question it. Because the manager is always right and they belong to "The Club"
* The managers are there to dump everything on you and make you a scapegoat if something goes wrong. So they look better in "The Club".
* Career Growth - Yes, if you quit and go elsewhere.
* Salary Increase - In your dreams. (Every year you will be greeted with a new reason from your manager for not giving a salary hike)
* Trust me, the money they offer is not based on market rates or regional benchmark.
I will be surprised if anyone cares to reply to this. Let's see.
