Started Out Well Enough - Deputy Store Manager Lidl Employee Review

Company constantly talked about how they like to promote their employees from within as opposed to hiring someone unfamiliar with Lidl for a position. In the 2 years i have worked for this company i have heard of 2 people being promoted and one of them was seemingly fired out of no where for what seemed like a very small mistake to other coworkers. When COVID- 19 happened in march the company really dropped the ball. New roles and responsibilities were introduced to the management team such as hourly sanitization of multiple surfaces a day, requiring a team member at the door at all times of the day to enforce customers are wearing masks and count the customers and employees entering the store, multiple new procedures and responsibilities for every role in the store. These are just but a few of the things that were thrown at the management teams and in the same memo told to ensure stores are cutting hours and will be receiving less hours given to them on weekly bases. My store personally lost 70 hours. While other larger grocery chains gave raises or bonuses or extra benefits to their employees for their hard work and service to the public during this time, Lidl merely told employees that if they happen to catch covid any expenses related to the medical treatment would be covered. That was it. For all our hard work during this time, i truly feel Lidl let their employees down and showed they don't really care about their employees on the floors in the store.
