Pros
If you don't know how to do something, chances are there is something in their global procedures database that will tell you exactly how it's done. When I was there the computers were relics running on Windows XP. Some might think this is primitive, but here's the thing. Everybody knew how to do things. KBR has systems. So long as you adhere to said systems TO THE LETTER, no one will give you any flack. KBR has systems. Management is interested in verifying that you are adhering to said systems. You and your team will be audited. And they usually give you notice of said audits. So long as you are ready for it, the scary people and their inquisitive stares will glance off of you and your work environment like water off of a ducks back. KBR has systems. You might think of a better way of doing things. But unless you design the systems, it isn't going to change a thing. So enjoy doing things by the book. Huge emphasis on safety.
Cons
KBR has systems. When things are not being done according to KBR's systems, you run into a whole world of confusion, stressful phone calls, and people yelling at you. You do things the Kellog-way, and if there is a way doing things grossly inefficiently that can be justified as the Kellog-way, then it happens. Management style is very sink-or-swim. Working for KBR is an endeavor fraught with landmines. Especially if you are new. If you are perceived to be too confident or try to fake it till you make it, then the people at KBR will sit back and watch you tread on said landmines. So long as it doesn't kill you or lessen their safety performance. The best way to survive as KBR is to understand the scope of your responsibilities though and through and stick to that. Also the work rotation may destroy your life and marriage. The lifestyle is intense. Self-care is difficult. The gym facilities may be limited and full. But you should hit that gym, habitually, no matter what. Your camp may also have limited internet bandwidth. So learn how to communicate with your loved ones succinctly by e-mail.
