Pros

The only benefit of working at J crew Factory was the pay. I was paid and acceptable wage for a full-time position, but was essentially considered a manager in training from the very beginning as my store manager quickly got pregnant after my hiring. I was expected to take over the store and run it for her maternity leave with no pay compensation.

Cons

When I was told I was hired by the company, I let them know immediately I am a full-time student and I'm in my 30s so my priority is school. They were fine with me working around my schedule. I was very pleased at first with their willingness to help me. Not long after that, I needed to update my schedule to accommodate Tuesday and Thursday mornings that I had class. I only needed until noon on those days and could work anytime after. My boss told me that I would have to choose between school and work because they could not accommodate my schedule.

Pros

Fantastic employee discount, enjoyed interacting with customers, decent pay for a side gig.

Cons

You will be worked to the BONE. Although you'll be hired as part-time, the managers expect you to dedicate your life to the job like a full-time employee. If you limit yourself to working one or two days out of the week, for instance, on weekends, they will slap the longest hours possible on the shift. Even then, they will still want more and will ask if you can come more days/take on someone else's shifts. You need to have firm boundaries at this store regarding your time outside of work/when you are willing to come in, versus not.
