Pros
Cannot think of many positives to list. Never really worked for a company that is so dysfnctional. Couple of pros:- -Joined IHS through an acquisition, the immediate team I work with has kept me going and sane. -The benefits are good, typical for a large company, not so sure about the shares awarded each year to collegues (a bit of a scam).
Cons
Cons, this list is rather longer I am afraid:- -leadership - don't feel I ahave been effectively line managed so have to question why I have a line manager when I can do my job by myself more effectively. I don't have faith in the leadership in place -the IHS culture can be best described as soul-sucking. I have never worked in such a place where there are so many employees that are unhappy in their jobs. -lack of investment in employees and their development or career progression. There are the odd few who progress and are happy to remain at IHS forever but not many. -my view of the acquisition of our company is that IHS only bought us in order to take out the competition from the market. Quite a few people lost through redudancy - good people. Those that are left from my original company are all desparate to leave, I would say 70% will have left by end of the year as they are all looking for new jobs where they will be more valued. -'meetings...more meetings' - far too many meetings scheduled that I cannot see how some do their jobs effectively as there could not possibly have any time left in their working week to action points from a meeting. I have sat in 4 hour meetings with the US - pointless.!! -far too many layers of management, you could easily get rid of 3 layers and still run this company effectively. Because of the many layers decision making process is slow. Also I have come across many situations where no one takes responsibility for things. -salary - IHS do not pay well - this is a fact.! -trend I have seen and this happens most years is in Q3 and Q4 there is cost cutting and a freeze on hiring as IHS are busy scrambling to ensure their year end results are good. This is directly related the price of shares on the market. Look past all the this to see what the company is really like.
