Pros
Some, a very few now, good people there. Salary was within normal limits.
Cons
Seriously, if you are a mid career professional IBM will ruin your career. I went in with almost 20 years commercial engineering experience. Spent 10 years at IBM where you had no choice but to use IBM tools/software. The vast majority of the industry uses commerical, third party software. You will be forced into becoming obsolete. Management constantly shifts priorities in a CYA approach to running a department. No work/life balance. There were newbies straight out of school or from overseas that were given preferential treatment. The "old boy" network and nepotism are in full force. If you already have your career on track, DO NOT derail it by working for IBM, regardless of what they promise you. I and 3 other of my former colleagues have been diligently searching for new positions for over 2 years since IBM off shored - imported workers for the department. We, as a group, are back to doing basic technician work due to our lack of current commercial experence. Use any IBM offer as a lever with another employer, just do not except the position.
