I worked in operations. My comments are biased towards that. - Analyst Goldman Sachs Employee Review

Pros

If you survive the intense interviews and pass the 10yr background check you might just get a job with a company that has come to be respected for its talent. The compensation is average to above depending on experience for my local area. They have excellent orientation and skill building programs. You will have a hard time finding better medical and vision benefits anywhere else. Just working for a company like this gives you a lot more credibility in the workplace.

Cons

In Salt Lake its mostly operations. The work can be REALLY mundane. Not really finance investing related work but rather just operations. The same kind of stuff you see on a factory line. (clip, snap, stamp, clip, snap, stamp, clip, snap stamp). Thats about it.

Pros

The firm encourages and supports to change teams, which is helpful in expanding experience or moving away if you aren't happy with your team

Cons

The promotion has become very opaque lately. They hardly give out promotions, but make you slog and overwork the whole year in the name of it. Basically, you have worked 200% and made to look like a fool by the end of the year.
