Interesting work, great growth opportunities - Anonymous employee Gemdax Employee Review

I worked at Gemdax for roughly one year over 2010 / 2011 (NOTE, the 'Last Year at Employer' option only went back as recently as 2013); I was a Canadian expat looking for international work experience one year removed from undergrad. The Partners at Gemdax are thought-leaders and experts in their respective fields of consulting within the diamond industry. Management always had the time to train and coach new talent with a long term vision to develop employees that fit into the firm's growth strategy. Although the business has expanded since my time there, the core management team and entrepreneurial spirit is unchanged. I continue to maintain a close relationship with them to this day. After nearly six years back in Canada working in capital markets and mid-market banking, it has been rare to come across people that are as driven, passionate and supportive as those at Gemdax. I highly recommend Gemdax to someone with or without consulting experience as an organization that offers opportunities to grow, meet clients and find solutions to improve businesses.

I have no cons for my time at Gemdax. Some people felt living in Antwerp could be a negative but I thought nothing could be further from the true. It is a captivating port city brimming with culture and things to do and a strategic location to check out many European cities on weekends.

Co-workers are supportive which creates a good team dynamic. The firm is committed to equal opportunities, so the team is nicely diverse. The work is varied and interesting and the industry is fascinating. People are given the space to develop at their own pace, and can take on as much responsibility as they feel comfortable with. The international client base opens up opportunities to travel, and interact with a variety of cultures.

Organisation has a tendency to be consensus-driven, which can slow down decision-making.
