If you are over 50 you are a prime candidate for a layoff. The suspected reason is the self insurance issue. Employees over 50 pose a risk to insurance premiums. Also, I have witnessed multiple layoffs of employees that were either all over 50 or had an insured family member with a health issue. I hope insurance reform impacts this issue so that it becomes a non issue.
