Pros
Good way for people with non-tech backgrounds to get into tech. QA work can be interesting if you’re on a project/team you like. There are opportunities to try out different responsibilities to see what you like doing the most. Health insurance benefits are great.
Cons
COVID-19 response has been disappointing. They are planning to bring all employees back between July-Aug, despite recommendations from public health authorities that we work remotely as much as possible. They don’t seem to care about employee health or safety. When employees have publicly (on an internal question forum) asked about the company’s COVID response/plan, questions they don’t want to answer are simply deleted. There is no transparency or trust from upper management. Your experience can depend greatly on your Team Leader. If you don’t stand up for yourself, you can easily become overwhelmed with the amount of work. You have to be in charge of advocating for your own work/life balance, but many (especially newer) employees feel like they can’t say no and easily become overworked. QA compensation is low for the number of different responsibilities we are expected to do.
