Pros

I have been working at EXL Service (NYC) for over a year now. The projects that I have worked on are pretty decent, most within the Insurance and Investment banking industry. The pay is decent, and the company seems to be growing.

Cons

- Needs more diversity in the company. For EXL to remain relevant in the US market, it needs to hire individuals with diverse background. EXL is an Indian company and 95% of it's employees in the US are Indians, which can create isolation of non - indians within the firm and can as such limit the potential of the company - HR personnels are inefficient. There have been instances where the W4 forms, H-1B Visa documents, and I-9 forms for new hires are either misplaced by HR personnels or not processed on time by HR personnels, and consequently creates a stressful atmosphere for employees who are working at the client's office because they either do not get paid on-time or they now have to resend all the paper work they've provided to HR in prior times. - There is no work life balance. When you are working at a client's site, taking a vacation is frowned upon by EXL management as they see you taking a vacation as a loss of income to the firm. It is always a chanllenge for an employee generating income to the firm to take vacation

Pros

Location, building amenities, nice view

Cons

Pay is terrible.. work load increases but pay stays the same. Ten cent or less pay increase every year. No room for advancement. A lot of favoritism in office, management trains new hires incorrectly and employees have to Pick up the slack. There is no respect in office from management to employees. No assistance from management. You get talked at , not talked to like an adult. Management will clock you out if you go over a minute of your 15 minute break, you are expected to tell management when you are going to the restroom and they will contact you while in bathroom. Policies are not followed.
