Pros

The intellectual challenge and diversity of work are extremely rewarding and the primary benefit of working for ERM. The ability to work across practices with colleagues from around the country as well as the world is great!

Cons

The number one downside to working for ERM (not just ERM-West) is the allocation and distribution of work to non-senior staff who have zero sales responsibilities and thus have no control over the amount of incoming work yet are responsible for finding work for themselves (they must be 100 percent billible at all times including when sick). Work is not handed to them but rather they must seek out work within the office or outside of the office. There is a mechanism for alerting others to availibility though work rarely comes from this and a bullseye is painted on the person who utilizes this mechanism with some senior staff and partners questioning their hiring.

Pros

Interesting projects, flexible work hours, ability to pivot to new disciplines and teams

Cons

Employees are getting squeezed by increasingly difficult metrics, with less compensation, less work won because rates are now set so high. Less and less investment in employees through benefits and upskilling. Managers are spread so thin they can’t give time to their team.
