Pros
The Co-op is generally a fun environment in the right stores. It is very hit and miss, the experience for staff in well run stores is really positive and I would recommend it for part time work. As a Team Leader I have been given a lot of support to develop into my role and the opportunity to run a store during your shifts is an excellent opportunity to learn and grow.
Cons
The workload is sometimes absurd. Team Leaders are broadly expected to give up half of their break just to get through the workload. This problem gets worse the smaller the store and the co-op keeps going down this road of cutting staff hours to the bone. Co-op's distribution system has been getting worse, you will rarely be delivered the stock you actually need in store and will waste time moving stock into a warehouse that is inevitably to small for it.
