the turnover that happens from tellers, bankers and to branch managers is a warning sign that there is a reason why people are running. I was hired with several other branch manager all at the same time and in the same region- strange that you would need that many all at once. I quickly became one of the more "seasoned" BMs within 3 years... really, just 3 years and I was 2 spots away from the longest BM in the Region? There is the manage by scare and fear ideal- I heard over and over again from other BMs, bankers and even Regional Managers, that you will be fired and that they really don't care. They will replace you within a day. They higher ups have tried to address that they want to be a place that cares about employees- it makes for a good PR statement, however if you aren't driving the highest sales and setting the most appointments and selling your customers everything and anything- you pretty much suck. My Regional protected the top sellers in his region, even if it meant that they got away major policy violations. He would ensure that HR didn't get a hold of it or he would "lighten" the load to HR so that the top sellers wouldn't get let go. There are also too many "friendships" that were inappropriate for the workplace. It was all disclosed to HR and the Regional but he was in the tangled mess too so it didn't go too far.
