Cheniere Energy holds a strong presence in the LNG market, with operations that are central to U.S. energy exports. However, behind the company’s market success lies an internal culture—particularly within gas scheduling—that is marked by serious dysfunction and mismanagement. The gas scheduling team operates in a high-pressure environment made worse by toxic leadership. Management is often aggressive and confrontational rather than constructive, creating a culture of fear rather than collaboration. Constructive feedback is rare; instead, blame-shifting and public criticism are common. Leadership routinely demonstrates poor communication skills and a lack of understanding of day-to-day scheduling challenges. Favoritism is another consistent issue—certain individuals are given latitude to underperform or behave unprofessionally while others are held to inconsistent standards. This uneven accountability erodes team morale and discourages excellence. Work-life balance is practically nonexistent. Long hours are expected, with little regard for personal boundaries, and there is a pervasive culture of guilt associated with using PTO or prioritizing life outside of work.
