Pros

Benefits, benefits, benefits. Unconditional, 15% contribution to the Master Retirement Plan by the employer. This is not a matching contribution- it is made regardless of employee's participation. 6 year vesting schedule in plan. Years of service: 1 Year- 10% 2 Years- 20% 3 Years- 40% 4 Years- 60% 5 Years- 80% 6 years- Fully vested Excellent health benefits. Details of options for coverage (and cost) are available on capgroup.com. Individual performance is consistently communicated through monthly meetings and detailed annual reviews. A review should never be a surprise. Competitive pay and merit increases. While the economy is suffering, there will be no merit increases, but this is the case at most financial firms in the industry.

Cons

In the customer service arena, many of the employees are just out of college which can impact the level of professionalism. Some associates believe they are too good for the job and do not take their roles seriously. Commonly, these are individuals who do not perform well in their roles. The company grew very quickly in a short period of time which has negatively impacted the culture. While there used to be an atmosphere of mutual support and understanding, associates have become downright rude to each other in recent months/years. There are currently job eliminations. In an effort to show respect to the employees, the company has given 2-3 months notice to impacted departments. While the intent is good, it has generated an environment of fear and stress, making it difficult to focus on jobs.

Pros

The bonuses and CSRP of 15% as well as many benefits are unmatched. I enjoy many of my colleagues and have made life long friends.

Cons

It was a great place to work and many will continue to feel that way until they are affected like those of us in the Norfolk Virginia office. There is no loyalty from the company and people are replaced either by a “vision“ of technology that doesn’t yet even exist within the organization or by cheap labor “offshore“. I thought I would retire from here and now I find myself out of a job after over 20 years before the end of 2027.
