Pros
Capco is a consultancy with Big 4 (or better) quality people, that competes in the market place by offering focused expertise across 5 financial services domains and running low overhead. I think it lives up to its promise of providing its people freedom to build their own career path within the firm. - Compensation (certainly the bonuses) is competitive with the major industry players, with many people receiving healthy raises to come over from Big 4/Accenture. - Having less internal structure than its larger competitors, Capco offers employees more freedom to experience projects outside of a specific "practice" or specialization. I personally came from a Risk background in the Big 4 and have gotten experience at Capco across Domains (wealth management, capital markets, commercial banking) which I had previously not had. - Partners and leadership have a very open door policy with all employees, very approachable and even proactive in engaging with their teams
Cons
Unlike its larger competitors, Capco is a little bit tighter about managing its bench. Further, employees are much more responsible to network internally and take agency in finding their own next projects at earlier levels. This may not be suited for less outgoing Associates and Consultants. Being entreprenurial/proactive about your career is a must, and while that is a positive for me, others who prefer a more structured path through consulting ranks may find it tedious or uncomfortable. For all of its cons, the firm seems genuinely open to receiving feedback and has trended toward more transparency from leadership throughout my ~4 years at Capco.
