Pros

There are no benefits to working for BFITS. The teachers are desperate and miserable.

Cons

The problem is that the same type of owners and managers that run the Thai manufacturing sweat shops run the education companies and job agencies. BFITS is the best example of this. There is a Thai owner, a member of the leisure class that feels no obligation to provide teachers with a living wage. No obligation to insure safe and healthy work conditions. His only interests are to cut costs and increase profits. The business model is set up so that teachers are treated as indentured servants. Teachers pay for their own work equipment including laptops and office supplies. The prices are set by the company, and payment is deducted from the teachers' paychecks. If anyone complains, or asks for better treatment they are fired. Visa gets cancelled. Work permit gets cancelled. Final paycheck is withheld. And this all happens within one day.

Pros

I came from the US with digital marketing career background but decided to have it as freelance work and shift to a teaching position considering my Bachelor's degree in Biology. Before COVID-19 was declared a pandemic, thankfully, I was able to contact the HR Manager at BFITS after applying on their website. I had an interview with her and it was really fun. I think it was the most enjoyable interview I had so far. They were all professional and they have been very transparent since the very beginning. Fast forward to now, unfortunately, I need to resign because the borders are already open and the process has been smooth. Also, it's been a long time since I'm back in the US. I believe that I taught Science well and I have shared my experience with my beloved students. I'm going to really miss them though... But for whatever it is, those whole times I have with BFITS was the best time of my life!

Cons

The only con that I could think of is the visa processing. Though I believe that it was not BFITS' fault because the policy has been changing. So when I arrive, I didn't get a Non-B visa. I need to get and pay for a 60-day visa extension before my visa was processed as well as the work permit.

Pros

You don't have to worry about working legally in Thailand, you'll get your work visa. You don't have to make a program from scratch, they have a system in place. Fewer "sketchy" teachers here than in other agencies. They were the most professional agency I worked with while I taught in Thailand. While I give them middling ratings in the reviews, teachers in Thailand will know that it's relatively high praise for a teaching agency.

Cons

Micromanagement. Annual raises were tiny. Expected to go into main Bangkok office during school holidays. Had to use an outdated, bug riddled piece of software to enter grades; however, you couldn't criticize the software as one of the management team owned it and received a fair chunk of money selling it to the agency.
