Huge Gap Between AstraZeneca Employees and Third-Party Staff - Marketing Assistant AstraZeneca Employee Review

Pros

Working as a third-party employee at AstraZeneca can be very discouraging. The majority of people in the office are actually hired through third-party agencies, working side by side with AstraZeneca employees and using the same tools, yet the treatment and benefits are vastly different. Third-party staff often receive significantly lower salaries, minimal to no benefits, and have little to no job security. In contrast, AstraZeneca employees enjoy premium benefits such as comprehensive healthcare, housing allowance, children’s education support, company cars, phones, and other perks. The disparity creates an environment of inequality, where third-party workers feel undervalued and easily replaceable, as they can be terminated at any time with little justification. Ultimately, the two-tier system undermines morale and makes it clear that agency workers are not treated as true members of the organization, despite contributing equally to the company’s success.

Cons

Opportunity to gain exposure to a global pharmaceutical company. Access to AstraZeneca tools, systems, and processes. Chance to learn and collaborate with different nationalities. Hybrid work environment.

Pros

I imagine this is very dependent on line management but I find my team and supervisors to be true champions of a high performing and highly compassionate work culture. I find my work challenging and rewarding, and have had opportunities to learn and grow and be rewarded and recognized for my output. No job is perfect but I’m truly happy to work here and at a time when AZ is truly rising like a rocket.

Cons

Like any massive global corporate entity, things can sometimes move slowly and it can be challenging to navigate a high number of constantly evolving priorities and initiatives. That being said, AZ is very clear about its north stars and values which makes it possible to prioritize work that has the most impact and alignment with the company’s ambition and business prerogatives. 60% office attendance policy is also a bit funny when oftentimes I am on Teams calls with colleagues sitting in other areas of the world.
