Pros

I’ve met some really nice people, unfortunately most have either left or been laid off.

Cons

Appfolio was a great place to work in the past; unfortunately now there’s new leadership in place that makes me feel like there’s no saving it now. The product is bloated and overly expensive for what it offers, and leadership doesn’t care about doing what’s best for its customers even though they keep trying to say “listening is in our DNA.” If that were true they wouldn’t have laid off their entire research team. They’re trying to haphazardly cobble their way through but it’s not working and no one will admit it. They talk a “big and bold” strategy but then say that generative research isn’t important. They are trying to hire a VP of UX, but that’s laughable as who in their right mind would come here? Leadership lies through their teeth, they delay / cancel promos and I wouldn’t be shocked if they did another round of layoffs even though c-level still gets all their bonuses. Rich people gonna rich I guess.

Pros

Frequent team outings and social events that help build relationships across the team. Generally a friendly, social environment!

Cons

The property management team is highly competitive when it comes to promotions, and I’ve seen BDRs remain in the same seat for years or eventually leave, as internal advancement opportunities can be limited. However, for top performers, there is promising upside, and you get to work with some of the best leaders in the organization. On the investment management team, leadership quality is more uneven, and there appears to be a lack of management experience, which has created gaps in coaching, accountability, and overall team development. As a result, performance outcomes have lagged, with the majority of BDRs and AEs struggling to consistently hit target. Team turnover has also been notably high, and leadership engagement only increased after a large portion of the team had already decided to leave, which by that point felt too late to rebuild morale or trust.
