There has been a high staff turnover, and there have been issues with career progression, however I appreciate that is the nature of corporate hierarchy - unless there is a shift in the senior management or team leads, there is limited opportunity to progress, but this is true of many companies.
Due to the nature of the company, and working within the remit and limitations of the BSC, it can be very risk averse and bureaucratic. The subject matter can also be quite dry, which can mean that it is difficult to be energised and motivated by some of the work undertaken. There can be interesting projects to get involved in, but often this is limited to those able to get involved due to the expertise required.
There has been a lot of work done to break down the silo mentality between departments, but there can be limited inter-departmental communication. With the introduction of Yammer, digital screens, and opportunities for knowledge sharing through Learn & Lunches, hopefully this will help to address some of these concerns.
