Can't recommend taking a job here

Pros

Met some of my best colleagues/friends here. They knew how to hire creative, collaborative people earlier on.

Cons

This is specifically about the NY offices and content team. I don't know much about the rest of the company. - Management treats the team like children. Reprimands publicly and privately if you dare to ask a question or speak out. Sends multiple reminders before every town hall meeting that cameras MUST be on because attendance will be taken (!!) and don't you dare wear a hat or hoodie. Demands that you stay online to finish work. -OT without pay: There was a culture of telling team members to stay online past their contracted hours to finish work. It was sneaky and often done through the team leads. Way too many people on the team worked nights and weekends and never got paid extra for it. But there was always too much work to do so they felt like they had to. -Didn't fire people who needed to be fired for continuous performance and ethics issues over months/years. -RTO was a mess. They make people within commuting distance go into the office on random days when none of their team members are there. There are not even enough desks for everyone and it's a total waste of a day. This is not work that needs to be done in an office. It was obviously just for appearances. - Company relies too much on AI for creative content. Everything got bland as time went on. - There was no real advancement or opportunities to transfer within the company. Even though there was supposed to be a professional development benefit, no one I know actually got to use it because whatever they proposed was not considered relevant to their job. The only way to move up was to suck up to management and take on a lot of extra work just to get a position that barely paid more. Certain managers were on a power trip. Raises and bonuses were basically nonexistant. -Any time I had a question for HR or payroll, it was a mess trying to figure out who to contact and then getting the runaround. No one seems to know who is responsible for what. I left by choice because I saw things going downhill. I can't even recommend working here to people I dislike.

Pros

Wonderful, wonderful people on the ground level. Most are there because of circumstance and it truly is a warm group. The work itself is also actually super rewarding.

Cons

I need to be careful of what I say, as I've been advised to hold back until my agent finishes their suit. This is the least, and I mean LEAST, professional working environment I've ever seen or heard of. From relations between managers and non-managers, to queries on "relations" in the office via text message or email when people go home and the place is empty (I have receipts), to the musical chairs style way of hiring and firing, there wasn't a day that went by that I and many others left without feeling horrible. For reference, one employee in another division was let go and the managers watched that employee walk to his car from the window while laughing. It was one of the grossest things I've ever heard of. One manager had 80% of their department leave or get let go, and instead of how 99% of other offices would respond asking what was wrong with that individual "leader", she and her direct boss (same name as a car company) who is equally as inept fail up. The 2 heads of the office rarely come in. When one does, she will give you a square smile, curse like a sailor, or threaten people in the infamous 3pms. When the other does, he has almost no knowledge of the product and seemingly Facetimes and talks about football small talk rather than help the process. Ask him to go through a cold call process or literally anything regarding the roles of most people in the office; it's as foreign to him as the Moon. Things got really bad when a certain individual was re-hired towards the end of my duration; he completely amped up the cursing, threats, and negative atmosphere. He is tall in stature and short in IQ points.

Pros

Good benefits and generous PTO, and a team of people who were really there to support you!

Cons

Usually no freetime during the workday due to a heavy workload (I skipped lunch sometimes to meet deadlines). Way too much reliance on AI. Customers can always tell. It's a bad look and not worth the environmental impact or cost. 30 people recently got laid off on the same day without any warning. Upper management does not seem to care about the content team at all and is ready to ditch these hardworking people altogether. I loved my coworkers and managers, but upper management is treating the people who MAKE the content so unfairly.

Pros

Private ownership allows form some perks. Minimal.

Cons

- Incompetent managers seem to rise the ranks - Political sucking up is encouraged - Money is the only thing that matters to them. The owner repeatedly notes that 47hours a week is expected... however there is not bonus, lieu time, or overtime offered for that extra work. - They will suck you dry and toss you to the curb.

Think Twice Before Joining

Pros

None cause while they may try to pay well, it comes at a cost.

Cons

Beware! This company is horrible and it starts at the top. The leadership across the organization is completely disconnected and out of touch with reality. They do not care about their employees — it’s all about protecting themselves and their own image. They focus on performative things like yearly dance videos instead of fixing real issues that impact people’s day-to-day work. Management thrives on intimidation, overworks teams, and dismisses feedback. Senior managers are just yes-people to executive leadership, and the executives themselves are a group of clowns who seem proud of how little they understand about culture or engagement. If you’re a candidate thinking of joining, a customer considering a partnership, or anyone planning to be associated with this company — think twice. There are far better, healthier places to work and collaborate with.
