Culture is poisoned by abusive CEO

Pros

There may be a good product opportunity around hybrid performance hosting, but a lot of work will need to be done to counter Amazon and other bigger hosting companies

Cons

The CEO is one of the most abusive and unprofessional individuals I've experienced in years. He demands 100% control of everything. Any differing opinions are met with face to face screaming and insults in front of a room of individuals or even on a company-wide video conference. He has no shame or self-control. If you are actually able to succeed you will not get credit and if something goes differently than the CEO unreasonably expects, you should expect all the blame and with extreme prejudice. There is no place for this kind of behavior in any work environment. Despite the planted reviews by management, there is no upside to counteract this kind of poisonous culture.

Thank you for the feedback. While we value all feedback, we don’t feel your characterization of the Codero culture is accurate or fair, nor does it truly reflect reality in our company. We go to great lengths to ensure that our interactions are healthy and productive at every level. Our culture is healthy and vibrant, and our company wide meetings have always been a place for us to all celebrate the successes of our company, and focus on our goals for the upcoming periods.

Pros

Great coworkers and solid managers neither of which last very long unfortunately

Cons

Very high turnover with marketing and sales reps. Most employees in the marketing and sales departments do not last more than a year. CEO is not all there and is very controlling over every aspect of the business. Not a good culture or work/life balance.

Pros

Great place to get your foot in the door in a growing industry. Benefits start immediately. Austin office is very laid back, and very open feel. Love the location off 360. In Marketing, good budget producing a good number of leads to a talented sales team. Support team seems to try hard, but lacks stable management and adequate training to avoid daily fires leading to an "everyone pile on to fix" mentality. Guess the high customer NPS ratings mean that most customers are happy enough.

Cons

CEO micro-manages every department, but offers no real value based on what I've seen. Seems to consume management teams' time with endless meetings to berate them for the company's failures. (Thankfully I'm not in those meetings, but does the CEO not realize how thin the walls are or how ridiculous his temper tantrums and fist-banging sound to anyone within earshot?). In all my previous jobs, CEOs were too busy developing business plans and making executive level decisions to be immersed in the day-to-day operational minutiae. In other words, this CEO has no actual job, but won't let anyone else do theirs.

Thank you for your feedback. The first third of your review seems fair and balanced. Thank you for that. While we appreciate all feedback, it is disappointing to see the kind of rhetoric in the rest of your review. At Codero, we have an open door policy and we welcome direct engagement with all employees. Our organization is reasonably flat, by design. Employees have an opportunity to interact with their CEO and executive staff directly, while in other companies in our industry they don’t necessarily have that opportunity. I would have much rather heard your concerns and feedback in person, or through your manager rather than here on this forum. I would have been more than glad to explain what our priorities are as a business, and what consumes my time as CEO, Chairman, and President of Codero. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or anyone on my staff, and I will personally make the time (as I always do) to transparently explain the company’s priorities, address your concerns, and guide you on how you can play a constructive role in our company.
