Pros

1. Exposure to a Wide Range of Projects and Technologies Provided valuable hands-on experience across different projects and technical areas. 2.Convenient Office Location The workplace was easily accessible and well-situated. 3.Flexible Hybrid Work Environment Offered a good balance between in-office and remote work, supporting work–life flexibility

Cons

1. Poor Career Development As a graduate engineer, I was excluded from the majority of career development activities and training opportunities. I was only involved at the final stages to provide feedback, which restricted my ability to build internal networks, set meaningful objectives, and establish a strong foundation at the start of my career. 2. Micromanagement and Unreasonable Workload I was frequently overworked and assigned an excessive number of tasks across multiple projects, making it unrealistic to complete them to the expected standard. Despite the effort invested, my contributions were neither acknowledged nor appreciated, which impacted both morale and productivity. 3. Toxic Culture and Internal Politics The team environment was affected by internal conflict, a competitive and cut-throat culture, and a lack of collaboration. Management demonstrated clear favouritism, which further undermined trust, fairness, and the ability to work effectively as a team.

We're sorry to hear you did not experience full access to our graduate development program, which we've created to empower our grads and help them build strong networks of peers. We will pass your feedback onto our graduate development to team. Thank you for your contribution to Beca and our communities, we wish you well in your future roles.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re glad to hear that you’ve found Beca to be a strong environment for learning and gaining valuable experience. We also appreciate your honesty around promotion pathways, pay, and micromanagement. These are important topics, and feedback like yours helps us understand where we need to improve. We’re actively reviewing how we support career progression and how we recognise performance. Your comments on micromanagement and incentivising performance through pay are also noted. We want our teams to feel trusted, empowered, and fairly rewarded, and we’ll continue working with our leaders to strengthen these areas. Thank you again for your contribution and for being part of Beca. Your feedback genuinely helps us build a better workplace.

Pros

Great culture, interesting projects, good place to start a career

Cons

Low paying, low recognition, they claim the salary is “market value” when it’s not. Your value does not appear to be how good of an employee you are, rather how many years of experience you have. Eg you can have a high performing grad and a low performing grad and get the same opportunities, benefits, pay bumps ect.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience at Beca. We're pleased to hear you enjoy the culture and projects. We appreciate you raising your concerns around salary and performance. We know how important it is for people to feel valued for the impact they make, not just the years they’ve been in the industry. We’re continually working to strengthen how we recognise performance, potential, and impact at all levels, including our graduate and early‑career pathways. We appreciate you raising this, and we’ll use it as part of our ongoing work to improve how we support, reward, and grow our people. We appreciate your ongoing contribution to Beca and our communities.

Pros

Decent exposure to large projects and industry-standard software. Some colleagues are supportive and willing to help new staff learn. The company brand can be useful for early career experience

Cons

Team culture can be highly dependent on specific managers. In some teams there appears to be a strong culture of internal gossip and favouritism rather than professional communication. Instead of addressing issues directly with staff, some senior members discuss employees among themselves or with other colleagues, which creates an uncomfortable and unprofessional environment. There is also a lack of effective management skills among certain senior staff. New starters often receive limited guidance and mentoring, while at the same time being closely monitored. Rather than supporting junior employees to develop, some leaders focus on micromanagement and informal criticism. In addition, there appears to be inconsistent treatment of staff, where certain individuals receive preferential support while others are left without proper onboarding or assistance. This makes it difficult for new employees to integrate into the team.
