Pros

Do not join unless you want to waste your time.

Cons

Apex is a poorly managed organization. The management only promotes who they like and do not consider the actual ability that the person got. Only very few of the seniors understand the industry while the others are new to fund service. They created policies that are far beyond the market standard and judge other counter parties with it. It wont be able to offer knowledge gain or career growth since they have been trying to minimize the number of employee in Hong Kong but outsource all the work to low labor cost countries however they hire people with poor accounting knowledge in those countries which clearly lead to horrible client experience. Every year the pay rise for promotion is less than 5% and regular pay rise is almost 0%. The company is also in a very stressed financial position that it wont be able to repay its debt due to the various acquisitions it made. There is never positive cash flow to support its heavy debts and interest. Frankly speaking, I seriously doubt if Apex will manage to survive in the next 5years. From a wider perspective, if you look at the number of job advisement/recruitment during the year, it is not hard to understand that the employee turnover rate is high given that everyone wants to escape. Now guess what is left in Apex after the good persons are gone. 90% of the experience support staff, such as HR, general admin, IT have resigned, the company structure is a total mess now but it still considers itself as the top 5 fund admin. Peter Huges and his team really has no shame.

Pros

If you are good at playing politics, you will have good working hour

Cons

The company is plagued by ineffective leadership, with numerous department heads who seem more focused on delegating tasks than actually contributing. This lack of accountability leads to a chaotic work environment where deadlines are consistently unrealistic. Employees at the operational level are left to navigate these pressures alone, often receiving little support when challenges arise. Instead of addressing issues, management deflects responsibility, pushing employees from one person to another without resolution. This poor coordination and absence of guidance create a frustrating atmosphere that undermines productivity and morale, making it difficult to succeed in any role.

Pros

Good peers. Supportive manager. Can learn a lot bout the fund administration industry.

Cons

Long work hours. A lot extra work enforced by the group recently. Non - existence salary increase. I have two theory about the the non- existence salary . 1. The group has some seriously problems with its cash flow. 2. The group just simply don’t care about its employees. Both are bad news.
