Ok vision, but leadership style makes this a high-risk environment
Pros
Ambitious mission and strong calibre of people attracted to the company
Cons
If you’re considering a role here, do your diligence. Speak to people who have left and pay attention to consistent themes. This is not a standard “high-performance” environment — the risk sits in how the company is led day to day. The company is highly founder-driven to a degree that shapes every interaction. Decision-making is tightly controlled, expectations shift quickly, and success often depends on aligning with one individual’s perspective rather than clear, stable goals. This creates an environment that feels unpredictable, regardless of your experience or performance. Feedback can be intense and, at times, personal. It is not always consistent or tied clearly to outcomes, which makes it difficult to know where you stand. Over time, people become more focused on managing perception than doing their best work. There is very little psychological safety. Many people operate cautiously, aware that decisions and opinions can change quickly. Even senior hires have limited autonomy, which leads to frustration and slows down meaningful progress. Workloads are high and boundaries are weak. People are often covering multiple roles, working long hours, and expected to keep up with a constant pace. When this becomes unsustainable, it is typically framed as an individual issue rather than something structural. Turnover is consistently high, with many strong hires leaving within a short period. Exits can feel abrupt and hard to predict, which adds to the overall instability. The remote setup amplifies these challenges. There is a strong emphasis on visibility and responsiveness, which can feel more like scrutiny than trust. As a result, many people don’t feel comfortable speaking openly or to each other. Everyone speaks on WhatsApp to avoid any comms on the company stack. This isn’t about being unable to handle pressure or ambition. It’s about an environment where control, inconsistency, and lack of trust make it difficult for even capable people to succeed or stay. There are many ambitious, mission-driven companies that combine high standards with clear leadership and respect for their teams. Based on my experience, this is not one of them.
