Pros

* The engineering culture at AL is empowering: high ownership, lots of autonomy, and low on process and red tape. * Everyone is super smart and cares a lot about what they're building, which makes it an inspiring place to work. * The company is very transparent from the top to the bottom, so everyone is aware of how its doing and feels involved in its success. * Compensation, benefits, equity are excellent. Culture is very supportive and flexible around taking time off.

Cons

Despite having an established product, AL is still very much a startup. Problems are often abstract and there's lot of urgency. The high ownership culture can therefore be exciting, but it can also be stressful, and may not be what everyone is after.

Pros

- The benefits and perks here are the best I've had in my entire career (full health care coverage, office meals, wellness benefit, team off sites). - You are given a high level of autonomy over your work. You have the space to make real impact and are trusted as a subject matter expert from day one. - The team is talent dense. There's a saying that you are the "average of the 5 people you spend most of your time with", so on a talent dense team you are consistently pushed to get better. Being surrounded by highly engaged, highly competent colleagues is a real privilege.

Cons

- It is an intentionally small team that is very disciplined about adding new headcount. If you want to work on a large team, this may not be the right place. - There is an undercurrent of "what if we could do this 10x better?" and "what if we could do this 10x faster?" It's all in service of doing innovative work and while it's intense, it's not chaotic. Still, that's exhilarating for some, but overwhelming for others. - The reality of talent density is there's a high bar for talent and you will be held to that high standard. Direct, candid feedback and intense coaching for underperformance is not for everyone.

Pros

Smart colleagues, lots of autonomy for employees, get to work with interesting customers (venture capital investors and startup founders)

Cons

Management fosters a borderline ruthless culture of evaluating people. Generally unforgiving of mistakes and quick to pass judgement on people. Some employees will thrive, others will really struggle, and most will be ready to move on after a year or two.

Pros

Skilled and talented colleagues, contributing to a dynamic work environment. Support staff and network in place provide valuable resources and assistance, enhancing overall productivity and workflow. Angellist's name brand recognition holds value in the industry

Cons

Management lacks clear direction, often favoring those who align with their own perspectives. The top-down work culture at times can create a challenging and potentially toxic environment. While the UI is aesthetically pleasing, the product offerings are often subpar and not as transparent as they could be. Often, riddled with inaccuracies.
