Overall, Just Weird Vibes

Pros

A lot of great people work there End of year bonus

Cons

Okay but for real, it feels like a cult - there's this really weird, eat, breathe, sleep ACC and if you take time to have life outside of work, you essentially get made to feel as if you are a total slacker. And at the end of the day, you are just a number. They had MASSIVE layoffs during 2024 and a lot of people were affected both in corporate and on site. Remote workers in corporate forced to come back in office, a lot of business happenings that don't get openly talked about (making them seem really shady and leaving teams in the dark with what is happening), teams getting used by Blackstone to enhance other holdings in their portfolio (on top of their actual day to day jobs). Just overall became a weird weird vibe. I quit because at the end of the day, any work I put in, any strategies I came up with, any long hours or weekends I worked, went very unnoticed and unappreciated. It may have just been my boss sucked at bossing but regardless, it made for a miserable time of overextension leading to burnout and quiet quitting. I felt soooooo relieved to leave.

A mess

Pros

Flexible scheduling, if you have good people at your property it can be fun at times

Cons

Where to begin... Since 2023/24, when Blackstone took over, ACC became this soulless corporate mess. Before it truly felt like corporate cared about employees, and were more in tune to the needs of each property. By conducting mass layoffs, we are struggling at property level, losing half of our management team. As a student, a big thing that was pushed was internal growth and the opportunity for a career with ACC after graduation. Their summer program which helps prepare graduating students for management positions, pays LESS than my current role as a community assistant. Now, with only 2 managers at each property, there are scarce openings to even get a position, so why would i put myself through minimum wage for the summer just so I most likely won't end up landing a management position anyways. They have cheaped out in so many ways over the past couple of years. Not to mention the lack of awareness from those at corporate who seem to only care about numbers at face value instead of understanding the context behind them. Happy to have received an offer elsewhere and to be leaving soon.

Pros

None. Unless you like to waste time with people who clearly aren't serious or care about showing any level of respect.

Cons

I was officially offered a position and welcomed onto the team by Greg Blumberg (Director of Infrastructure Services). We even had a welcome lunch to discuss next steps. Days later, I was ghosted—no formal rescinding of the offer, no explanation, nothing. It was a deeply unprofessional experience. I turned down other opportunities to join ACC because I trusted their word and the leadership. I’ve never had a company extend an offer, host a welcome lunch, then completely disappear without giving me the courtesy of a conversation. Candidates deserve better than this kind of treatment. I would advise others to proceed with caution and get everything in writing—because clearly, verbal commitments and handshakes don’t mean much here.

Pros

Based on the people it could be really fun.

Cons

Sometimes you end up doing more work once they realize other people won’t work as hard. Only plus is good bosses/ managers at lease acknowledge it!

Pros

Found a great community at my college to live and work at for some time.

Cons

After being purchased by a larger corporation, everything became worse for both residents and employees. Pricing increased, funding decreased, part-time positions were not getting raises like they would have previously, community participation and events decreased, work loads increased due to layoffs.

Pros

Learned a lot, worked with great people

Cons

Upper management had at times unrealistic expectations even with working over full time. Never seemed to acknowledge struggles when understaffed, expectations only grew.
