Pros

Nice open office but there was nothing wrong with previous office. Great concept to sit anywhere and on any floor and work with your laptop. Free shuttle bus to and from Union station. Company perks are nice but not as good as used to be, slowly things are cutting back. Some lunch and learn seminars. Allows to work from home but it's frowned upon even there's a policy to work from home. Some great associates, a mixture of young and older.

Cons

Too many managers, and many are not trained to be managers, were promoted by manager friends, most have attitude and are selfish, management does not care about the staff. HR is useless and sides with managers. Employee KPO reviews + annual bonus is a disgrace and below industry standards. Senior Leadership team has no direction about AIR MILES reward program since the miles expiry controversy, it has become a PR nightmare and a sinking ship. Too many upset clients and collectors that some withdrew from the program. Less workload, too much stress, can't trust some people, too much backstabbing, poisoned workplace. No career advancement.

Pros

Some great people below leadership

Cons

Dated executives, no vision, president is a goof ball and his leadership team are bullies. Especially the marketing team. Client service no longer has any leadership since they made changes last year.

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. I agree, we have great people at AIR MILES! Leadership development is important to us and we consistently invest in ongoing training and development for all of our associates and leaders. We have also implemented a Leadership Performance Objective this year to give us insight and measure the areas in which we aim to focus attention on for continued growth and development of our leaders. The comments you made around bullying are concerning as we have a zero tolerance policy as it relates to bullying or harassment of any kind. We have several ways for associates to report any conduct that they feel is unwelcome so that it can be appropriately addressed. Over the past few years we have been more intentional about not only communicating our vision, but giving our associates the opportunity to shape it. That’s one of the reasons we have a robust annual planning process that all associates are invited to participate in – giving everyone an opportunity to share valuable insights and recommendations to help bring our vision of becoming Canada’s Favourite Loyalty Program to life. Thanks again for leaving a review. I wish you all the best in your career. Dimitri Benak VP, Talent and Workplace

Human Resources

Pros

Decent sized organization with promising revenue, organized processes and policies, good training, fair compensation package, fun company perks, transportation subsidies

Cons

There is extremely high turnover (mostly unwarranted terminations) that happen across the entire business in every department including HR. Certain teams within HR have had almost 100% turnover within the last year . If the problem happens in HR itself, it is bound to happen in all other departments and this is caused by an HR leadership team that have zero concept of employee relations or performance management. The organization generates a lot of revenue and money is constantly being thrown away because upper management does not want to take the time to grow and develop talent or manage their performance. It is easier for a manager to terminate and hire somebody else (and this is probably advice given from HR). Talent Acquisition and HR leaders will never support their own recruiters and are bound by the phrase "the client is always right" or "senior leader is always right". There is a lot of corruption and you cannot trust or confide in anybody within your own department. HR and talent acquisition senior "leaders" abuse their power and treat their own team poorly.

Pros

SOME great co-workers who are friends. Vacation is good. Standing desks. Nice view.

Cons

The company outlined a bunch of great values but they’re more decorative hall coverings than anything else. Authenticity, Collaboration… not things that are actually rewarded. Instead, politics reign making any healthy tension toxic rather than helpful and ruining most opportunities for true collaboration. Senior leadership are the worst offenders for toxic politics and it bleeds down through their teams. Politics are prioritized above alignment making it hard to deliver meaningful work. When work isn’t delivered it becomes a blame game with senior management pointing fingers.

Pros

nice office, good hours and decent perks

Cons

lower than average pay (especially for internal employees) and each person has to fend for themselves, if you get stuck with a bad manager your only option is to stay unhappy or leave the company. the organization values external talent more than internal which is a shame for anyone thinking they could develop their career at the company. poor leadership in client services (especially since a reorg). although framed as a 'diverse company'.... take a look at the senior leadership team.

Thanks for the feedback. We too love our downtown office and invested a lot of time, input and love in order to make it a space where our Associates feel comfortable and inspired. To help our Associates feel a similar comfort in their work from home routines due to the current pandemic, we have offered a Home Office Subsidy to purchase items to help them settle into their new workspaces. In regards to your comment on pay, market data helps us ensure that our salary ranges remain competitive and our Total Rewards team reviews market changes regularly and updates our salary ranges as necessary to keep us competitive. In addition to salary we offer many other perks, rewards and recognition to elevate the Associate experience. I’m perplexed to hear that you feel internal talent isn’t valued. We know our success ultimately depends on the real drivers of our performance – our Associates. We place a strong focus on Associate development and provide them with the training they need not only for their current role, but also to help them achieve the next step in their career. In fact, so far this year, 52% of our vacancies have been filled by internal transfers and promotions. That’s something we’re proud of. Diversity is at the heart of our Company’s culture, but I acknowledge we have a lot of work to do. We are taking steps to actively drive change, including reviewing our current policies, ramping up mandatory training and assessing our recruitment practices. AIR MILES is committed to supporting an environment where we embrace and celebrate our differences. Thank you again for your feedback. I wish you all the best. HR Professionals Beware!

Pros

Decent benefits, onsite gym, subsidized cafeteria.

Cons

The turnover (both voluntary and involuntary) is the highest I have ever experienced in any organizations I have worked for. Many departments within HR have had over 100% annual turnover for the past 2-3 years. There is no HR strategy and the same work gets done year after year with no actual results. HR Leaders will cave to any request by Senior Management regardless of the impact on people. Front line HR roles bear the brunt of "client" anger and do not get any support from their leaders. The HR Leadership team is by far the weakest group of HR "professionals" I have ever worked under. HR technology is owned by the parent company in the US so there is very little input or authority the local HR group has to make changes. HR Managers and below are very hard workers and good people, but are constantly bombarded with "strategy" changes, reporting structure changes, and overall indecision to be effective. There is no senior leadership expertise in the areas of Recruitment, Performance Management, Employee Culture, or HR Strategy. Recruiting Professionals, DO NOT accept a job at LoyaltyOne/Precima

Pros

The company has a long standing record that speaks for itself - 7 years and counting as a best employer, over 4 years as a most admired culture, repeated green employer awards, and a leadership team that cares about it's employees. Sure, LoyaltyOne isn't for everybody - and it shouldn't be. The company looks for unique traits in its hires beyond the job specific skill sets. Not everybody will make it here. Why? Because we are always changing. For the better. Which means you need to be open to new ideas, flexible, energetic and willing to lean in and have a point of view. You want to join a leading edge HR team? Not afraid to make change and experiment with new ideas? Love outstanding peers and and collaborating and learning from your team mates? This is what bring me in with a smile every day! I have had job rotations on the team over the years and ongoing support from the HR leaders to grow and learn.

Cons

Commute downtown if you don't live downtown

Pros

your contribution meant something, was recognized

Cons

Bryan Pearson and his Executive Leadership team were exited from the organization and thus leaving a big void within the organization. Resulting in a demoralization of the remaining close knit staff. The new CEO lacks the skills, confidence and ability required to lead the organization.

Thank you for your review. You are right, we have an incredible culture at AIR MILES due to the collaboration, dedication, and fun that our teams bring to work every day. In regards to your comments on management, we know that good leaders not only contribute to our growth and success but also drive innovation and create a positive work environment. As such, we consistently invest in ongoing training and development for all of our leaders. Last year we took steps to implement Leadership Key Performance Objectives to measure leadership effectiveness along with a leadership survey to solicit Associate feedback regarding leadership and to ensure we continue to learn as an organization. We know that developing our people is critical for increasing engagement, fostering our culture and enhancing performance, which in turn drives our results and growth as an organization. The Leadership across the organization, including technology and other areas of the business, are working together towards achieving our shared vision of being Canada’s best Loyalty Program. We encourage you to voice your concerns internally to your Leaders and Managers, and allow us to address this lack of alignment to continue to make AIR MILES a great experience for our Associates and externally. Thank you again for leaving a review; I appreciate your honest feedback. Dimitri Benak VP, People and Culture
