Overview
The Business Analysis Lead, Applications is responsible for leading and overseeing business analysis activities across the administration platforms including but not limited to administration system, workflow applications and reporting tools within Retirement Solutions.
This role ensures that business changes are operationally sound, compliant, and practical, supporting efficient scheme administration, client servicing, and regulatory obligations. It focuses on translating business, regulatory, and client needs into clear operational requirements and sustainable process improvements.
Reporting to the Head of Business Analysis, the role works in close partnership with the Business Analysis Lead, Digital to collectively oversee all change activities, ensuring strong alignment between system‑enabled change and operational readiness and execution.
The role also has direct accountability for people leadership, providing supervision, coaching, and mentorship to other analysts supporting the Applications stream.
Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities
Strategic Focus
- Lead business analysis across the administration platform, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Retirement Operations, Client Services, Risk & Compliance, and Change to shape and prioritise business change.
- Ensure operational considerations, controls, and regulatory requirements are embedded early in change design.
- Work collaboratively with the Business Analysis Lead, Digital to ensure end‑to‑end change alignment across systems and operations.
Operational Management
- Oversee end‑to‑end BA deliverables for operational change, including:
- Business and process requirements
- Operating models and workflow design
- Business rules and control impacts
- Regulatory and compliance considerations
- Ensure BA outputs support efficient, scalable, and compliant operational delivery.
- Act as the escalation point for complex operational, regulatory, or process‑related issues.
- Drive consistency and quality in BA documentation, methodologies, and standards across the Applications stream.
- Support implementation readiness, including operational impacts, training needs, and post‑implementation stabilisation.
People Leadership
- Lead, supervise, and mentor business analysts supporting Operations‑focused initiatives.
- Build strong capability in process analysis, regulatory interpretation, operational risk awareness, and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide performance feedback, coaching, and development guidance.
- Support resource planning, workload prioritisation, and capability uplift across the team.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous‑improvement culture.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with Operations, Client Services, Risk, Compliance, and Finance stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops and discussions to define business needs, assess impacts, and validate solutions.
- Translate regulatory and operational requirements into clear, actionable change outcomes.
- Manage stakeholder expectations on scope, timelines, risks, and operational impacts.
Governance & Risk
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and operational risk frameworks.
- Support regulatory reviews, audits, and control assessments relating to operational change.
- Identify and proactively manage operational, compliance, and delivery risks.
- Promote a strong risk‑aware and control‑focused mindset across the BA team.
- Ensure changes do not adversely impact service quality, processing accuracy, or regulatory obligations.

Experience & Personal Attributes
- Minimum 8–10 years of Business Analysis experience, with at least 3 years in a lead or people‑management role.
- Strong experience in operations‑driven change, business process re‑engineering, and regulatory or compliance‑led initiatives.
- Proven experience working closely with Operations, Client Services, Risk and Compliance teams.
- Strong understanding of end‑to‑end operational workflows and service delivery models.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex change in regulated environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Proven capability in coaching, mentoring, and developing BA talent.
- Highly structured, pragmatic, and outcome‑focused.
- Experience in financial services, pensions, MPF/ORSO, or registry operations is highly desirable.
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Operations, Finance, or a related discipline.
