Established in 2019, Center for Ocean Research in Hong Kong and Macau (CORE, https://core-hkmacau.ust.hk/) is an international research center for interdisciplinary ocean research – a bilateral collaboration between the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Pilot Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology. CORE has four major research directions:-
The appointee will conduct massive data analysis, computation and reporting; participate in field study, sample collection, and laboratory experiment of the ocean research projects; assist in planning and implementing all aspects of research; coordinate with government agencies and collaborators; and perform any other administrative duties as assigned.
Applicants should have a master’s or a bachelor’s degree with good honors in computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering or a related discipline. They should be proficient in programming, data processing and mastering data research analysis softwares (e.g. MATLAB); and also have good research knowledge. Relevant research work experience will be an advantage. Ideal candidates should have strong analytical skills, good interpersonal and communication skills; be highly-motivated, committed and able to work independently. Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese will be required. (Duration: 1 year, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable.
