Reporting to the Director of Student Development Services, the appointee will lead the Student Life and Resources (SLR) Section in shaping a dynamic, supportive and vibrant campus experience. Your leadership will directly impact student success from financial empowerment and leadership cultivation to community engagement and transformative campus events.
The appointee will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of leaders. You will work at the intersection of strategy and student impact, within a collaborative environment that values innovation, integrity and the holistic success of every student.
- Lead a dedicated team, fostering a culture of professional growth and excellence to deliver high-quality services that support the holistic development of students;
- Oversee the strategic management of scholarships and financial aid, ensuring outstanding and deserving students are supported. Cultivate meaningful relationships with donors to steward scholarship recipients and build a lasting network of support;
- Anticipate the evolving needs of student leaders and scholarship recipients, designing and implementing impactful leadership training programs that nurture continuous growth and a strong sense of purpose;
- Spearhead the planning and execution of major university-wide events (such as the University Welcoming Ceremony, cultural activities, and the arts-to cultivate a vibrant, inclusive and engaging campus community);
- Drive the development and implementation of service-learning and community engagement initiatives, providing students with meaningful volunteer opportunities that connect them to the wider community;
- Champion the integration of local and non‑local students by designing and overseeing programmes, activities, and support systems that promote cross‑cultural understanding, social cohesion, and mutual belonging. This includes fostering inclusive campus environments, facilitating peer mentorship and collaborative learning opportunities, and addressing the diverse needs of students from different cultural backgrounds to enrich the overall student experience;
- Oversee the strategic planning and management of student facilities, equipment and the Student Activity Centre, ensuring they serve as dynamic hubs for student life;
- Lead and monitor special projects, including the Cultural Immersion Programme, Anti-Deception initiatives and Whole Person Development courses. Manage critical governance processes (such as the Election of Student Representatives to the University Council);
- Act as a key interface with student groups, ensuring all activities and organizations align with university regulations while fostering a culture of responsibility and collaboration; and
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor’s degree with a relevant postgraduate qualification;
- At least 15 years of relevant experience, ideally in higher education or youth work, with a proven track record of leadership and deep knowledge of student development and the tertiary education landscape in Hong Kong;
- A demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of professionals, working both independently and collaboratively to advance strategic goals;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua, with strong attention to detail. Outstanding interpersonal skills to build and sustain effective relationships with students, donors and institutional partners;
- Solid experience in programme management, assessment and ensuring long-term sustainability of initiatives; and
- Proficiency in leveraging information technology to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
