I talked with my mentor who is a senior executive at Verisign in Reston, Va. She said I was turned down because I am over 30 years old, and Deloitte only wants to hire millennials. Thus, I learned that you must look like your resume. If your resume lists only 10 years of experience, you must look like you only have 10 years of experience. So, as a result, we see that salon hair color visits are tax-deductible job hunting expenses because to get a job at Deloitte, you must not look older than 30 years old. Postscript: Three years later, I attended a meetup event on 18th floor of Arlington, Va. Office and I notice Deloitte provides millennials with a full gourmet kitchen filled with usual coffee, tea and water along with diabetes-inducing sweet shop candies of all kinds, and, a fully-stocked alcoholic-inducing wine/beer cooler. Apparently, this is supposed to demonstrate concern for millennials comfort. However, this inspires me to wonder about lack of fresh fruits and vegetables along with legal liability firm incurs when employees drive home under influence. Apparently, these legal issues do not trouble Deloitte. It does trouble me that firm encourages poor health and DUI. This Arlington, Va. Office has a large number of Federal government clients who do not permit alcohol in workplace. In fact, many private companies also forbid alcohol in workplace. It is easy to understand why, and to me this demonstrates good sense. Do you want to work with a co-worker who walks around with a beer in hand all day? I don’t. Do not apply here. Only millennials wanted here. Grown-up adults need not apply.

Elaboration and clarification of technical aspects and decisions involved.
Project required mainframe expertise in addition to SAS. A couple of high level questions were asked about REXX (what is the EXECIO command used for)? and a couple of questions on evaluating SAS macro variables and data step variables on sample test programs written on white board.

Sometime directly answered the syntax or sometime prvided the approach
Met with hiring manager and an OGS subcontractor. They described the job and asked me about my questions. I asked more about the work and got the name of the subcontractor. Then the hiring manager said HR would get back to me and that I should all questions to HR (red flag). The company is really small and I should be able to address the questions to the hiring manager. It was clear that HR was not really very organized anyway.

I turned down the offer because 1. HR lowballed the salary saying it is 110K initially. Then she changed it to 120K, but I know the job starts at 150K from my information. 2. Hiring manager referred me to HR and did not give me his card after the interview - this shows no interest. 3. They did not ask me any questions about my background or skills. 4. Both the OGS subcontractor and the CEO do not have college degrees listed on their linkedin web pages. Since I have two graduate degrees, I sensed there would be a cultural mis-fit. I had been supervised by high school graduates before and it was not a good experience. I did not want to repeat the experience. Less
