I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Vital Biosciences (Toronto, ON)
Interview
Called out of the blue by their HR person to schedule a half-day on-site interview, with absolutely no discussion prior. I was out of town that week so it wasn't possible. Then multiple days later they asked me to meet with their CEO for a 30 minute call.
The CEO asked me comically myopic questions that were primarily focused on things at the company that currently annoy him.
There was no discussion about the role, my background, the company, the culture, nothing... He didn't even really introduce himself.
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Vital Biosciences (Oakville, ON)
Interview
There were several sounds of interviews, starting with project managers and going as high as an interview with a founder. There was also a design challenge to test technical ability and communication.

Question 1
I was asked to design and source parts to complete a relevent engineering challenge. I was asked to defend my choices for each part I had selected as part of my system.
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Vital Biosciences (Oakville, ON) in May 2025
Interview
The interview process stretched over several months. Overall, this company’s hiring process is very disorganized and it makes you undergo at least four interview rounds. The most exhausting round was the design challenge (third round). Specifically, this round requires candidates to spend three days to read a peer-reviewed article and answer a lengthy list of questions. Afterward, you have to present your design challenge to a panel of industry scientists. At the end, this company simply ghosts you once you are not selected… Please show more human decency.
