The recruiter in the US approached me online and conducted a phone screen, following by another phone interview with the HM a few days later. Then 4 rounds of onsite interviews were scheduled, of which, one was with the HM again.
3 days after the onsite interview, I got an email from the recruiter scheduling a time for a call to discuss feedback against the interview, and on the phone call, I was rejected. The reason was that they picked another candidate having more experience in team leadership.
This is interesting, because:
1) I asked the duties of this position to each of the interviewers, including the HM. They gave very detailed descriptions on the duties of this role and the ties within the team and with other teams, However, none of them had mentioned the requirement of leadership experience.
2) All interview questions were technical, none of them were behavior.
3) Actually, I had experience in leadership. I led a team before, and I'm leading a team now.
