Interview
A recruiter reached out to me and asked to schedule a phone call that same week. I gave him several availabilities and received no reply. He later reached out after the week finished, saying he never saw the message (though the platform we were messaging on showed a read receipt), so I gave him my availabilities for the next week and we scheduled a call.
Come time for our chat, he never called. Later, he messaged to say that he couldn't make the call because of a flight. We rescheduled again, talked a bit, and he said he would send me a coding challenge the next day. This coding challenge never came. At this point, I decided this was not a good look for the company and did not bother pursuing this job any farther. Totally understand when situations come up, but running into hiccups at every step is a bit too much to be coincidence.
At the end of the day - no hard feelings. I know though that many of us out there are busy juggling our current jobs / schooling with job hunting, and I just want to give people a proper heads up that might possible save them a lot of time.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Verkada (San Diego, CA) in Feb 2023
Interview
Recruiter call, followed by one technical interview, followed by 4 rounds of virtual on-site interview (3 technical, 1 behavioral). During the on-site, the interviewer was 25 minutes late to the first round. I only got the remaining 35 minutes to complete the technical question (which I did). The other rounds went smoothly as well. After the on-site, Verkada emailed and asked to do the first round again with a different interviewer since it was "short". This was very unprofessional since it was their interviewer who was late, and by good practice, they should not have scheduled another round. Regardless, I scheduled another interview with them for the next day, which then they pushed back another day. Then a couple hours before the interview they emailed and cancelled it, saying they hired somebody else. This was an extremely unprofessional way of dealing with a candidate, and I would definitely deter anyone from interviewing with them.
