      Engineer Interview

      27 Aug 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Draper, UT
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at VPI Technology (Draper, UT)

      Interview

Unprofessional, amateur, out of touch with industry norms, embarrassing for VPI, strange and weird. I've worked at or have interviewed with half a dozen fortune 500 companies and nothing compares to this bizarre group. My advice: Do not go anywhere near this company. Do not do business or work here. Based on their website profiles of the executive leadership, there is no experience, past employment or business outside of the mountain west area. The lack of industry experience is scary. Also, it appears that the executive leadership team, have only worked at VPI Engineering for their entire professional careers. Employees who have only worked at one job lack necessary skill, knowledge and experience to be successful and add value. From my interviewing experience, this company really has no idea what they are doing. Taking a test is not an effective way to find top talent. Also, nepotism appears to run strong in their culture. It appears that they only hire people from Utah State based off the website profile of the executive leadership team. Lack of engineering talent and nepotism is a recipe for disaster. In my opinion, with the current sheltered executive management team and leadership, the future looks very bleak for VPI Engineering.

VPI welcomes feedback from individuals that interact with our company. Often times the input from external sources (as well as VPI staff) can help add value to our services and improve our corporate culture. However, for this particular anonymous post on Glassdoor, we find it important to repudiate the post in its entirety as the remarks are inaccurate, presumptuous, and defaming. Naturally, we’re compelled to provide you with an accurate picture of VPI. Founded in 1996, VPI is a high-tech professional services company with a strong global reputation. The company has experienced steady growth and profitability year-after-year. Our remarkable workforce shares a common commitment to customers, to the company, and to each other. Company success is attributed to the technological expertise and innovative spirit of our staff. Executive leadership is comprised of experienced industry leaders and seasoned professionals; including both founders as well as newer key members joining us from other executive roles in the industry bringing additional breadth and expertise to our growing company and team. We highly value our workforce. Admittedly, we are selective in who we hire into our organization. We are consistent, thorough, and fair with how we conduct candidate interviews. Our interview process includes capability testing to measure technical aptitude and an interview style that helps us gauge practical knowledge, people skills, and ultimately a cultural fit. We take pride in our culture and do our best to hire individuals that embody the spirit of VPI and will preserve our organizational mission, aim, and standards. We are diligent to provide employees with a positive and productive work environment, excellent benefits, competitive wages, and rewards and recognition programs to match their needs and interests. We encourage readers to visit our website (www.vpitechnology.com) and learn more about VPI and why it’s such a great place to work and to do business. Sincerely, Team VPI

      Interview

Sit down meeting with potential boss. General questions on history and experience. Had to take a written skills test, which was fairly difficult. If they like you they bring you in for a team interview.
