      Graduate Human Resources Interview

      25 Feb 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Melbourne
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Unilever (Melbourne) in Feb 2018

      Interview

I made it through the initial screening process based on my CV to be directed to a series of online games on the site 'pymetrics'. I assumed the games would assist them to understand my strengths and weaknesses to help them with interview questions. The games themselves while innovative seemed very quantitative and did not in themselves make a selection process so I was surprised to be emailed minutes after completing the quiz that I had been unsuccessful. The email read like this: Thank you for completing our online games. "We regret to inform you that you have been unsuccessful on this occasion and have not met the desired scores in our games. We are sorry that we can't progress your application any further but competition for our Programme is intense and places are limited. We would encourage you to follow other career opportunities at Unilever and apply for different positions. If you would like to apply for our Programme again in the future, please try in 12 months time. We hope that you found the feedback report useful and that you can utilize it to build on your strengths and improve for the future. We want to help you find your fit! By going to pymetrics you can find and match other job opportunities outside of Unilever. We would like to thank you once again for the interest you have shown in Unilever and wish you every success in your future career." Coming from an education in HR I was surprised a major multinational firm would use such crude recruitment and selection methods. The whole experience was time-consuming and lacked any personal communication.

      Question 1

Online mind games. Don't expect to do well unless you have good short-term memory and are good at solving puzzles.
