A straightforward interview. I was asked about a time I went above and beyond for a customer, and a time when I was able to demonstrate empathy. It probably lasted under fifteen minutes.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Tesco (Baldock, England) in Nov 2015
Interview
Very chilled and relaxed group interview. This is a great chance to sell yourself and you are given the opportunity to be the first one to answer questions, out of a whole group. Because it was a group it does last a while and they do have some icebreaker challenges which really shows your team working and leadership abilities. Our task was to make a tower out of paper cups and prevent it from falling over, so a task that doesn't require too much hard work, they really want to test your communication here. Most people in my interview got hired at some point but I was probably one of few to be hired immediately out of about 12 people who were there. Keep calm and don't be nervous, working at Tesco was the best decision I made especially as a student.

I applied online. I interviewed at Tesco (Sudbury, East of England, England)
Interview
Quick and easy interview process. They asked a few questions from a form. Was interviewed at the same time as someone else which was a bit weird. Was more like a chat to be honest and then was phoned quickly after the interview.
A bit overkill for the job. 2 managers interviewed in person. Several competence based questions. "Describe a time where you overcame difficulty" etc. I was offered a place by phone a few days later.
