I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Target (San Marcos, TX) in Nov 2009
Interview
I got offered an interview for an internship with Target after handing a recruiter my resume at a career fair at my university. A few days later I received a call from an HR staff member who asked me questions regarding where I would be doing my internship at (which city). Soon after speaking with him, he scheduled an one-on-one interview with another recruiter 3 days later. During the one-on-one interview he asked basic informational questions regarding myself. (What are you career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What do you expect to learn from this internship) and I was also asked to tell a little about myself, my major, my activities, work experience) Three days later I was contacted again to do a store tour and informational q/a session at the closet Target. The store tour was basic, you walk around the store and learn about the logistics, and organization of each department. After the tour 10of us applicants got to ask a few questions to the current interns and staff members. Within two days later I had my final interview with two HR staff members. The interview was quite difficult and they asked all situational questions with emphasis on details! ( Describe a situation in which you had to be assertive? Why do you want to work for target? Describe a situation in which you felt overwhelmed? Explain a project you put together and the steps you took in order for it to succeed. Describe a situation in which you had to step up and be a leader?) After the interview you are allowed to ask them question regarding the company and the intern program and within 5 days the e-mailed me stating they decided to choose someone else.

Question 1
Describe a project you put together that was difficult. What steps did you take to create this project?
Short, quick, personable and exciting so you can't gauge how they feel. That said, very easy and fast process, does not require much preparation, just make sure you can pitch yourself well.
There was a total of three rounds. First was phone screening with recruiter, second was with a manager and third was with a panel of mangers at the distribution center.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Target (Charlotte, NC) in Oct 2025
Interview
The initial step was a phone screening, where I learned a lot more about the company and position. I didn't proceed to the next round but the people I spoke with were very friendly.
