      Software Engineer Interview

      11 May 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Vancouver, BC
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Tackle.io (Vancouver, BC) in Jan 2022

      Interview

The full interview process consists of 5 stages: 1. Initial recruiter interview after referral 2. Director of Engineering for front-end teams - culture fit/behavioral interview 3. At this stage, told that I would move forward to the take-home test stage. Recruiter sent it the take-home project to complete within the week. Projected time indicates to only take 3-4 hours to work on it and to submit the project. 4. Was told by recruiter that I'll be moving forward to the next stage - met with 3 Engineer Manager and Senior Engineers to go over project and discuss the strategies and tradeoffs I took. Did not know at the time but it was also for a team fit interview. 5. Last stage before offer was with another Director of Engineering for back-end teams - mostly behavioral type questions with values based and experiences type questions

      Interview

Everyone I met in the interview process were really friendly. They don't expect you to be smartest engineer, but if you are empathetic and are looking for growth in your career. 1.) Phone Screening with HR 2.) Met with Director of Engineering 3.) Did a take home coding project. Had 4 business days to do it and had a time limit of 4 hours (doesn't have to be all in one sitting, you log the time you spent on each coding portion) 4.) Met with Engineering Team I would be working with and talked about the take home project. 5.) Met with the other Director of Engineering.
