Submitted online application, and got a referral from a friend inside of Tableau. Was contacted 2 days later by a recruiter, and subsequently had a phone screen interview. That conversation was light, and seemed to mainly be a way for me to describe my background, interests, and motivations for wanting to work at Tableau. Received positive feedback and was set up to meet the hiring manager face-to-face. Given an option to meet the hiring manager at Tableau at either a coffee shop or on the Fremont campus, I chose the coffee shop. During an hour long meeting at the coffee shop, we discussed further my background, what the job entailed, and some insight as to the existing team. I was contacted a few days later by the recruiter informing me that they wanted me to come in to HQ for a 5.5 hour series of interviews. I showed up on the agreed upon day and was greeted by a friendly Tableau representative. I was unsure about what the interview might entail - as it is a technical management position, I thought I might be expected to write code. However, as the day progressed, interviewers mainly seemed interested in how I might go about making technical decisions when faced with a divided team, or how I have dealt with difficult peers or employees. The day progressed by meeting with sets of 2 employees for about an hour each. Again, conversation was mostly about handling delegation of tasks, strategy and vision for the team, and how my background might have prepared me for the role at Tableau. I got great feedback at the end of the day, and was summoned 2 days later to meet a few more people who were unable to attend the first full-day interview. Overall, I had a great experience, was impressed by the consistency of the interviewers' answers to my questions, and came away with a very positive outlook on the position, the team and the company as a whole.
