I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Tableau Software in Oct 2014
Interview
After applying on-line, it took approximately 2 months for the interview process. After having several interviews, I was asked to perform a remote presentation of Tableau's software. All indications were that this went extremely well. As a result, I was asked to travel for an on-site set of interviews and perform the presentation again.
At the beginning of the day it was indicated by HR that I would probable receive an offer withinn a day or so and equipment delivery and training schedules were already discussed.
I then interviewed with numerous Sales executives and performed the product demo again. This time a minor mistake I made prevented a perfectly smooth delivery. Apparently, any mistake is construed poorly (as if you are supposed to have already been trained and worked with the software as your current job) I wonder if an existing employee were to make the same mistake if it they would be fired.
The bottom line is that an offer was not extended. The feedback was that I was not aggressive or 'salesy' enough. That seemed a bit odd since I have helped sold over 200 million in software solutions during my career. Additionally, it did not seem to matter that I had a large network of previous colleagues that would attest to my abilities.
Perhaps they believe that they someone over 50 can drink the company coolaid. Check the internal reviews, this is a very young company with very few over 40.

Question 1
Are you aggressive or take charge of a meeting or do you step back and listen
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Tableau Software (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2018
Interview
Short. Weird. Impersonal. Never really gave you meaningful insight into what was going on. Just grilled you like you were being interrogated. Worst was that there wasn't any follow up. Just thank you and then that's it. Kind of left a lot to be desired...which was sad coming from a company that says it's all about the customer. BTW - I am one. So that was disappointing.

Question 1
real basic stuff about my job history, location, etc. and then jumped into some pretty in depth data management stuff - the stuff a DBA had done in the past. seemed like they wanted to get an idea of how much I knew.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Tableau Software (Austin, TX) in Nov 2015
Interview
I had over 12 phone interviews, 1 exercise, 2 demos, all remote. All the interviews, exercises and demos went extremely well UNTIL I had an in person interview with some "millennials" where I was essentially attacked. Apparently they didn't realize my age until they saw me. I'm over 50 and have worked for multiple start-ups and have over 25 years experience selling software, which apparently doesn't matter to Tableau. The people I met with were some of the most arrogant and conceited people I have ever dealt with. I don't recommend this company to anyone over 40..
