I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Starbucks (Portland, OR) in Jun 2011
Interview
Starbucks requires you to fill out a pretty lengthy application, which you may submit to multiple locations -- online. It's unfortunate to have to avoid in-person communications for the website, but you can always introduce yourself to a hiring manager. Once contacted for an interview, you are given the opportunity to come to a hiring fair, which is open interview style. You are usually surrounded by other job-seekers and managers from across the region. Starbucks tries to achieve the diversity goal by assigning managers to applicants at random, and having multiple hiring managers interview each client.
It feels more like a meat market.
Hope you get picked!
You will receive a callback if you're hired -- if not, you usually don't get a call.
Basically a short chat about my availability, my interest in the job, why I want to work there, how familiar I am with coffee and what my past experiences in hospitality were.
Easiest interview I've ever had. I was only asked 3 questions, 'tell me about yourself, what are your strengths & weaknesses, what is your availability?' Lasted about 10 minutes maximum
Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback. We appreciate your input and are happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed the interview process here at Starbucks.
it was great. I answered every question thoughtfully and easily. You have to have two interviews, one with the manager and one with the district manager. It is a in person interview. They ask many questions and will either hire you on the spot or you will have to call to see if you get the position.
