Human Resources Position - Negative Experience Interview

      9 Jul 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Remitly

      Interview

*Negative experience with application experience* A couple months ago I applied for the position online. Knowing that I have a friend who worked there, I believe it was a great place to work for UNTIL: I got contacted for a phone interview. The recruiting coordinator asked me to put in the times I was available and confirmed the time. I waited for an hour on the scheduled time. No response. No one called one. I attempted to call the office to see if I can reach the interviewer. The call went to a Manila call center and the Seattle office couldn't be reached. No phone numbers were left with me. I emailed back and the interviewer said she missed my interview time and felt terribly sorry, wanted to reschedule a time. I entered my availability again and NEVER heard back since. I kept emailing back for 1-2 weeks and never heard back. I then emailed one last time and I got a "no-reply" email from the applicant tracking system said they filled the position and therefore rejected my application. What type of candidate experience are you bringing? If you promised your candidate a phone interview and missed it, rescheduled it, why didn't you respond? I've heard that you have "Great Hiring Practices" training with your employees. This extremely contradicts the experience I've had with Remitly. Not only did they waste my time, I didn't even get an apology. I was extremely disappointed with the candidate experience and would not recommend anyone to interview or work here. Interviewing for the HR position and being in HR myself, you should ALWAYS keep your candidate informed of where they are in the process. The lack of communication puts a poor reputation to your company.

Thank you for this feedback and it sounds like you had a terrible experience. First off, let me offer a sincere apology for our lack of organization, communication and follow up. You are absolutely right that we need to always keep candidates informed. If you'd be open to it, I'd like to use this as a learning opportunity for us to see where / how we missed so completely on your interview experience. Please reach out to me at mindyf@remitly.com directly if you feel comfortable doing this so that we can figure out how this happened and assure we use it to continuously improve - and more importantly give you some closure and close the loop for you as well.
