      Engineer Interview

      28 Sept 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Kings Langley, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at RES (Kings Langley, England) in May 2012

      Interview

Applied for the job from a jobs board. Was contacted within 2 days by my future line manager for an impromptu phone interview which covered most of my CV and some nitty gritty on particular experience in previous positions. From the phone interview a face to face interview was arranged for the following week. The interview had the line manager and a HR rep. It seemed to be sort of a check on the phone interview and was not too onerous. There was a practical element to the interview with some sample scenarios and problems provided for solving. An offer was made a few days after the interview and following some negotiating on salary the position was confirmed.

Nothing to difficult, but there were sample problems provided that related to day to day issues of the position.

      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at RES (Denver, CO)

      Interview

Screened over the phone before traveling on site for a second interview. The first interviewer over the phone was very pleasant but the in person interview was not a good experience. Was asked very basic technical questions only to be basically shut down and scrutinized in the most bizarre way for seemingly not answering in as much detail as the interviewer wanted. My motivations for applying for the job were questioned. I was treated as someone who was not qualified despite having more experience than the job required. Ultimately I left feeling I was not actually under consideration at all given how icy the interview felt. Great office however.

      Interview

takes months - start hourly, part-time and then may obtain a full-time offer - very strange process with no idea of where you stand - Glen Ko makes all the decisions and he is a very difficult sort
