I applied online. I interviewed at Naughty Dog (Santa Monica, CA) in Mar 2026
Interview
The recuiter ends the interview after learning I don't hold a green card nor citizenship, despite the fact I am fully authorized to work. I found out later status discrimination is illegal in California for non-clearance required roles.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Naughty Dog (Santa Monica, CA) in Sept 2018
Interview
I applied online and the recruiter responded about 2 weeks later. We scheduled an on-site interview for the following week. I met with the QA Manager and Localization Manager for about 1 hour. Their questions regarded my previous QA and Localization experience and were pretty basic. The QA manager threw me a bit of a curveball when he asked what one of my previous supervisors may have to say about me that is negative - that got me trembling a bit but I think I responded well shortly after. We then discussed details to the job, such as the hourly rate (which was slightly above minimum wage), overtime, and duration of the contract. At the end of the interview, the Loc Manager had me translate 10 basic UI strings in a questionnaire webtool which was pretty easy. Two days later, the QA manager reached out to me and asked me to schedule a further onsite practical test for them to evaluate my QA skills utilizing their software with an instruction sheet. I responded that I would be interested in the job, however, we weren't even in the same ballpark in terms of compensation. This ended my candidacy for the position. Overall, it was a positive experience. Although we did not come to an agreement, we treated each other respectfully and were clear about our expectations, which ultimately did not harmonize.
