The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Toronto, ON) in Feb 2010
Interview
applied through school.
Wrote the essay, took the test.
a week later, went through the 1st round of interviews and have been invited back to the final rounds. No clue what that's going to be like yet. Because different offices really have different styles, I am told.
i feel like my first case didnt go as well (serious engineering case- i am an arts student, go figure), but with second case it went wonderfully (better than wonderfully). engagement manager walked in and made me write entire case on white board, including structure and stand up and present it.....
called back for finals.... hoping they give me something outside the box again, seem to do great in such cases.

I applied online. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (New York, NY) in Sept 2025
Interview
The interview process consisted of multiple rounds, each combining a personal experience interview (PEI) with a case interview. The PEI focused heavily on specific examples of leadership, impact, and problem-solving, with the interviewer asking detailed follow-ups to understand how I approached difficult situations.
The case interviews followed the typical McKinsey style — very structured, math-focused, and interviewer-led. I was expected to break down ambiguous problems into clear components, run through quantitative analysis, interpret data from charts, and communicate insights concisely. There was also a short brainstorm or creativity component toward the end of most cases.
I applied online. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Austin, TX) in Aug 2025
Interview
First had a McKinsey game that was more difficult than expected but overall okay. You should prepare ahead of time because the games are all online and there are breakdowns of the games.
